Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 08
Happy Friday!
I have been long on the hunt for the perfect everyday lipstick that is a my lips but better shade, longer lasting and moisturizing. I soon learned that this was quite a tall bill to fill. All of the longer lasting shades completely dried out my lips while the moisturizing formulas came off in less than an hour. I was at the drugstore the other day and picked up the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 08.
I made my purchases at the drugstore, instantly got into my car, opened my mirror and applied the lipstick. The color is stunning, a gorgeous combination of a pink, mauve and plum that takes my lips to the next level.
The finish of the lipstick is more along the lines of a satin. It is easy to apply and does not drag on the lips. My only texture complaint is that it does tend to dry out your lips as it wears off, but this particular color does wear off pretty evenly. On second thought, it may not wear off evenly but it appears to do so because it is close to my actual lip shade. I would most likely have to purchase this lipstick in red to really tell if it wears off evenly. Regardless, it has a pretty good wear time, 2-4 hours if you do not eat a huge meal.
The lipstick has a pretty strong scent of floral mixed with a typical cosmetic scent, but it doesn't bother me and goes away quickly.
The packaging of the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipsticks are really nice. I like that they went the simplistic route with all black packaging, the red Kate signature, and the crown Rimmel logo embossed on the top of the lid. This lipstick can be picked up at most drugstores for about $5 (Very reasonable!). The lipstick contains 4 g of product, which is typical of most lipsticks (For a reference point MAC lipsticks are 3 g).
Last little note, to any makeup companies who may be reading this post please please please know that naming the color of your product something cute or interesting is ALWAYS better than slapping a number on the product, I'm talking to you 08!

Outfit Inspiration
1. J.Crew Factory Jacket $98
2. Michael Kors Crystal Bangle $95
3. Fana Sandal $78.95
4. Lace Insert Dress $44.12
Lately I have been drooling over all of the utility jackets at my favorite stores. They are structured and masculine and make a perfect addition to any winter or summer outfit. In the summer they look divine with the sleeves rolled up and paired with feminine pieces. This particular utility jacket caught my eye due to the brushed gold detailing, the stitching at the waist to keep it flattering and the perfect army green color. Pairing this jacket with a flowy and feminine lace detailed dress is the perfect mix of hard and soft. This outfit is completed with the perfect brown gladiator inspired sandals with a small wedge to lift those calves and legs ;] Lastly, this Michael Kors bracelet picks up the gold in the outfit and adds a bit of edge with the rough quartz stone.

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
I am excited to review one of my all time favorite products today. It is a cream shadow by Maybelline that is a staple in my collection and that I find myself reaching for day after day. This Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze wears flawlessly all day with no creasing and is the perfect bronze shade.
The Maybelline Color Tattoo's are advertised as having a 24 hour wear time, which a lot of companies like to claim (but lets be honest, who wears their makeup that long?). I do find that they stay put without creasing or fading for a full day, even in heat and humidity!
I recommend applying this product with clean fingers or a synthetic brush. I prefer using my clean fingers and smoothing the product over my lids in roughly two layers. This creates a perfect base that has shine and shimmer without any chunks of glitter.
The Color Tattoo's are comparable to MAC's Paint Pots, except they are a fraction of the price! Mac Paint Pots retail for $18.50, while the Color Tattoo's retail for $6.99. The Paint Pots contain 0.17 fl oz of product and the Color Tattoo's contain slightly less product, 0.14 fl oz.
I prefer using this product as a base to keep my eyeshadow in place and add some depth and shine. The Naked Palette pairs nicely with it, along with a lighter shimmery eyeshadow shade like Sin from the Naked Palette or Naked Lunch by MAC.

Review: Essie Nail Polish Lilacism
Today I'm bringing you a post about one of my go-to nail polishes. Essie's Lilacism is neutral enough to be appropriate in almost every situation, but still gives your nails a great lilac color. I often find white based lavenders and lilacs to veer slightly grey, so I was ecstatic to find this polish that is a true lavender.

I topped off this perfect lilac manicure with a new top coat that I have been very pleased with. The top coat is by Revlon and is the Extra Life No Chip Top Coat. The manicure pictured below is after 3-4 days of wear and as you can see it is chip-free!! I switched from my tried and true Seche Vite topcoat because it has become extremely thick and impossible to use. I need to purchase some Seche Vite Restore to make the polish thinner. It is typical for this top coat to get thick because it is such a quick drying top coat that any exposure to air makes it thicker.

I found this polish to be opaque in two coats and was surprised by the thinness of the polish. My experience with Essie so far has been interesting because every polish I try from them seems to be a different consistency. The thin consistency makes it easy to work with and creates a beautiful finished product because it dries opaquely.
Lilacism can be picked up for around $8, which is typical of a mid to high price range nail polish of this quality. In addition, all Essie nail polishes come with 15ml of product which seems to be the same amount of product across all nail polish brands (including OPI).
Until next time,
♥ Sarah
